It looked interesting but it's exciting to speak about Jesus, God's Son. I must say that these words and stories have affected my approach to people.
Four Reasons We Don’t Share the Gospel
Just yesterday while cashing out of a popular department store, just in passing time conservation I mentioned I was a follower of Jesus. I said yes I do. Then I asked her if she loved Jesus also, then Jewel not the right name said she did loved yes too. Just that easily I had opened a "friendly" conversation about the Lord Jesus.

I'm not sure yet if I can agree whole-heartily with everything written in here yet, but I can see a vast difference in introducing people to Jesus without having to depend "Christianity" and all the terrible things that have been done in it's name. I believe every believer should read this book-all of it- without becoming defensive and learn to present Jesus to friends and neighbors rather than Christianity. I wish to thank Carl for this new to me at least to sharing my "Friend" with others. One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful. I love the message of this book!
I've gone to a nondenominational, bible teaching, Jesus following church for a number of years, and have been frustrated because even there many people still don't seem to able to accept and love everyone. There are judgements and criticisms made of people who aren't considered to be Christian. And I'm guilty too- I'm impatient with people not open to loving those different from themselves. And now I see- until we lose the idea of Christianity and focus on the person of Jesus, we will continue to miss the point.
I do love Jesus. And now I want more than ever to have him as my best friend-someone I know intimately and share about because of my love for him. Thank you Carl, and thank you Jesus. You never give up on me and my blundering. You patiently wait as I move ever so slowly closer to you, one step at a time.

He confirmed so many of the things that I have been seeing in our culture and thinking. Christianity and Christians are viewed in a very negative light, and I have recently hesitated to call myself a Christian, resorting to phrases like 'following Jesus. You don't have to defend Christianity through the ages and all the dumb things that have been done in God's name. And you don't have to defend Jesus, because he takes care of that himself. Just speak of Jesus. This is what I, and I think most of the church, have been missing in terms of sharing the gospel. Please read this book. Please share this book.
If you come from another perspective, it will read a bit differently, perhaps highlighting why Christians are so bad at leading people to Jesus. Still feel free to read it, as it will hopefully show you how different Jesus and Christianity in the world today are. This book made me rethink my approach in how I present myself as a Christian man. I too often fell into the trap of needing to defend Christianity. I am a Conservative Fundamentalist Baptist Christian and I own all the baggage that the culture heaps on that.
However, I do not want to do, or say, anything that causes others to miss knowing the Lord Jesus Christ. This book prompted me to ask "What made me change? So why did I change? No one forced me. No one defended the faith to me, or won me over with arguments. I got to know Jesus, I was convinced that Jesus of Nazareth was who he said he was. I was introduced to Jesus by people who were nice to me, and who kept telling me about Him. They kept telling me what Jesus said and what Jesus had done for them. Over time the rest just followed naturally.
That process started in June , I was 14 years old then.
This book reminded me that I need to be more like Jesus and more like the people that led me to Christ. They did not judge me, nor did they try to win me over with arguments. No, they were just nice to me, they loved me, and they told me about Jesus. See all reviews. See all customer images. Most recent customer reviews. Published 2 days ago. Published 1 month ago. It also implies a listening evangelism. When Francis Schaeffer was asked how he would spend an hour with a non-Christian, he said: Wisdom possesses more than knowledge; it expresses knowledge through understanding. It considers life circumstances and applies knowledge with skill. Another word for this is love. It slows down long enough to understand people and their objections to the gospel. Love recognizes people are complex, and meets them in their need: I was recently having lunch with an educated professional who had a lot of questions.
I should ask you questions. I have a lot more questions. Often they are tied to some kind of pain. We need to explain these important truths and more , not simply assert them. When we discerningly separate cultural misunderstanding from a true understanding of the gospel, we move forward in wisdom.
We need to see evangelism as a long-term endeavor.
