Constantine has been laying threads in the rest of his Infernum novellas and brings just about all of them together for this ensemble book.
I read through the other three novellas in preparation for The Fixers, and it's safe to say that this is the kind of story that rewards readers of the other books, but is still a read-worthy tale even if this is your first dip into the Infernum world. Lockhart was believable in her wit and righteous anger, and I could feel the sleaze of the Agency pouring off Quartermain in each of his scenes.
Vincente managed to be one of the most frightening characters Constantine has ever written, and he does it without speaking a single word.
This is one of my favorite stories of Constantine's I've read, and I'm looking forward even more to reading Dante later this year. One person found this helpful 2 people found this helpful. A well-written tale that gathers together the story lines from the first three books in the series and completes the transition of organizations from good to evil or vice versa.
Nothing startling, but a confirmation of many things hinted at and alluded to in the earlier stories. Looking forward to the big conclusion in the next, and final, installment in the series. I held back one star for the two somewhat over-the-top scenes of torture. While they were a somewhat convenient part of the plot and the transformation of individuals and organizations from good to evil, they were just a little much for me and my personal tastes. If you have not read the previous books in the Infernum series, buy this but also buy the previous three books and read them in order.

You will enjoy them all. If you have not read anything by Mr. Page-Turning Action A former Agency operative is working for the opposition as an assassin. The agency had failed to look into her husband's death. He was also an agent for the Agency. Now she has reason to believe there was a mole in the organization and she is determined to find him. Interesting action Many writers that weave martial arts into a story, seem to have more knowledge of the moves in the art form than this author portrays.
Character development was adequate and the characters interesting. The editing could be improved, as I came across many typos. This was fast-paced and exciting; however, because it was a novella, I didn't feel I got to know the characters well enough before the story ended.

I'm not a fan of a story whose villain is smarter or tougher than the hero whose job is to capture or kill him. I hope in future books in this series that Dante is less; his adversary more. A short story with the main character as an assassin action was a given there was also romance I enjoyed. Jan 29, Kevin Findley rated it liked it Shelves: Fun and good for a rainy day read.
